Why it may be recommended
A stress test helps assess how your heart responds to increased activity. Your clinician may recommend it to investigate symptoms, evaluate treatment, or help determine an appropriate level of exercise.
What the team monitors
During an exercise stress test, activity on a treadmill or stationary bicycle becomes gradually harder. The team monitors your heart’s electrical activity, blood pressure, breathing, and symptoms. Tell the team if you feel unwell or need to stop.
Preparing for your appointment
Wear clothing and shoes suitable for exercise. Follow your testing team’s instructions about food, drinks, and medicines. Share your medication and supplement list. Do not stop medicines on your own. Discuss any difficulty exercising with the team beforehand.
